ACFB Youth Summit on Hunger and Poverty: Day 1

Day 1

Hey ladies and gents,
It was great meeting everybody today! We successfully broke through our early morning awkwardness, got to know some great, inspiring people, and set a positive tone for the rest of the week. If today was any indicator, tomorrow and the rest of the week will be packed with great activities and tons of fun.
From the "Get to Know You" games, to the scavenger hunt, to the tour (ahem, dolphin, cough cough), Day 1 of the ACFB Youth Summit was a smashing success. I look forward to tomorrow when we get to meet our Georgia reps, sort food in the PRC, and get to know each other even better.
Anyways, have a good night, see you bright and early (ugh) tomorrow morning!

Youth Summit on Hunger and Poverty

Each year the Atlanta Community Food Bank hosts a Youth Summit on hunger and poverty for metro-Atlanta high school students, who gain in-depth knowledge about hunger and poverty issues. Students participate in field trips, service projects, and learn the different community and governmental responses to hunger and poverty. The Summit empowers them to take action, helping them to identify, plan and initiate an action step against hunger within their own community. This blog is a space where participants can share, reflect and chronicle their journey and where Summit alumni, friends, and family can encourage (and be encouraged!) them to be agents of change in their communities.
