2008- 2009 Youth Leadership Summit and other Education and Outreach Initiatives

2008 Summit students sorting food at the PRC and hamming it up on graduation day!

Well, clearly maintaining a blog spot is not something I'm finding easy to keep up with. We are now into 2009 and preparing for our 2009 Youth Leadership Summit on Hunger and Poverty!

Applications for this year's Summit 2009 are streaming in, planning is in full swing, excitment is brewing over new opportunities this year.

A tight knit group was formed and they will miss each other!

Youth Summit on Hunger and Poverty

Each year the Atlanta Community Food Bank hosts a Youth Summit on hunger and poverty for metro-Atlanta high school students, who gain in-depth knowledge about hunger and poverty issues. Students participate in field trips, service projects, and learn the different community and governmental responses to hunger and poverty. The Summit empowers them to take action, helping them to identify, plan and initiate an action step against hunger within their own community. This blog is a space where participants can share, reflect and chronicle their journey and where Summit alumni, friends, and family can encourage (and be encouraged!) them to be agents of change in their communities.
